This crazy life requires soda!
I know I am a few weeks late in this post but life has been happily crazy around here…I swear that April felt about a week long! Even though my title now is Stay-At-Home-Mom (SAHM) I do sometimes miss the creative outlet of event planning. But never fear folks as I have certainly overdone every opportunity and social event so Mason’s First Birthday Party was a gimme.
I didn’t want to do a character theme as I figured if I rocked out Thomas the Train then next year Mason would of course be Thomas obsessed and then I would have a train theme two years in a row, can you imagine the horror! So I decided to keep it simple and go with a rainbow colored theme (for the record it was NOT a rainbow party though do consider it a shout out to my Delta Nu girls) which left lots of options for food and decor.
After trolling Pinterest and brainstorming for a few months I decided to do an event based on creating color blocks with food and decor in the red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple concepts.
COLORED MENU
For all the babies we made party favors with sidewalk chalk holders, sidewalk chalk, swirl rainbow lollipops and crayons. For decor we made tissue paper pom poms, had a Number One piñata, Mason (pun intended) jars filled with utensils, lots of ROYGBIV balloons, had craft paper with crayons on the guest tables and hung colored lanterns from the deck.
Thanks so much to my mom and my entire family (Dad, Milton, Michael, Yeshe and Alina) who worked off their fannies to make the tissue paper pom poms late into the night and all the last minute details…you guys are such great supporters of my event addiction.
Also want to thank Mama Owl Photography for being part of our great day and giving us these great photos.
